Group classes – West Hampstead

NEW TO PILATES?
We highly recommend you start with a private 1-1 intro lesson in your home or join one of our beginner or beginner & improver classes in order to master the basics before you progress to a mixed-ability or intermediate class. With Pilates, as many things, you will get out of it what you invest.

INJURED?
Pilates can be a fantastic way to manage and aid injury recovery. Those with an injury or illness may need
a private Pilates introduction before being able to join a class so please contact us prior to joining a class. Details of private lessons can be found here.

Classes are an hour long and are limited to 10 participants in West Hampstead and 12 in Queen’s Park, in order to ensure safety and the best results.

IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE:

  1. We operate a strict 12 hour cancellation policy on all group class bookings and there are no exceptions
    to this.
  2. Our class pass validity periods are there to encourage you to get the most out of your practice. It really
    is important to do Pilates regularly in order to reap the rewards. Therefore, please make sure you choose
    a pass that you will be able to complete within the validity period and something that best fits with your lifestyle. Click here for prices.
  3. Extensions to class passes are now available and can be bought for £5 for an extra 2 weeks. Please email dalia@ilovepilates.org.uk before yours expires, to arrange this.


WHAT TO WEAR & BRING

Getting your joints and spine into the best possible alignment before moving is a key aspect of Pilates, therefore it is important that your teacher is able to see the position of your body. For this reason, it is helpful to wear comfortable clothes that aren’t though too loose – something you’re able to move and stretch in. For Pilates,
we work barefoot or with socks – non-slip socks with a sole grip can be useful.

Mats and all other equipment is provided.

60+ Pilates 

60 pilates class3It’s more important than ever to keep mobile and active as we get older. Pilates is a gentle, low impact form of exercise that can be taken up at any age – Joseph Pilates practiced his method well into his 80s!

Pilates is an excellent way to maintain flexibility, strength and muscle tone and help alleviate a variety of age related conditions. Join Mary for this special class designed for men and women who are 60+.

 

Prenatal Pilates 

Our Sunday 9am class is also suitable for prenatal work with one prior private lesson to take you through your specific body needs and modifications. Increase your body awareness, strengthen abs and pelvic floor muscles to prepare your body for a smooth pregnancy and birth, strengthen the upper body to help support the additional weight of bump and breasts, gain invaluable relaxation and breathing skills and lay the foundations to help you re-gain your pre-pregnancy figure. Join Gloria to make this special time an empowering journey in mind and body.

 

Beginner + Improver Pilates

Designed for total beginners and anyone wanting to revise the fundamentals, get back into their Pilates practice or work towards an intermediate level, this class will give you a strong foundation in your Pilates practice.

 

 

Intermediate Pilates

A fun, challenging, faster-paced and flowing Pilates class for those who know the fundamentals of Pilates, including core activation, stabilisation, proper form and alignment. In it you will apply these fundamentals to your practice and work toward the more challenging Pilates exercises. This class is not for anyone completely new to Pilates or with severe injuries.

 

Mixed-ability Pilates

A general level Pilates class, suitable for all levels and abilities including newbies. Each teacher brings their own unique style to their class, all aiming to improve strength, flexibility and stamina as well as establishing ideal movement patterns. Various level options are offered, so you can choose your own level of challenge as we flow from one exercise to the next. This class isn’t recommended for those with serious injuries and new to Pilates.
